SUMMARY:
The Project Manager is responsible for project financial performance and team communication for multiple projects simultaneously. Responsible for developing project scope of services, schedules, and fee and budget during the marketing and contract development process. Manages project man-hours and directs team members and consultants at all levels to ensure the project is delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the client’s satisfaction. Ensures work is completed as planned and in conformance with the design intent. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to department accomplishments.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Licensed PE
- 10 years of project engineering experience, from concept to opening
- Experience in leading or working in integrated teams
- Experience with healthcare, government, education, and commercial projects
- Experience with architecturally significant buildings
- Proficient in Deltek Vision
- LEED credential a plus
- Must maintain annually a minimum of 8 hours of continuing education pertaining to managing a business, finance basics, employee engagement, team building, and coaching.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Expertise to manage large and small projects from conceptual design to construction.
- Ability to promote positive client contact with current and prospective clients and develop a relationship of trust with client.
- Aptness to review project costs and budgets, and adherence to schedule.
- Ability to proactively track outstanding proposals and get signed proposals and notice to proceed.
- Ability to leverage relationship with client to maintain invoice collections timely, within 60 days.
- Ability to proactively communicate with client representative to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews, and delivery of final presentation.
- Aptitude to perform site visit surveys to determine engineering strategies and to document and evaluate existing systems and create solutions.
- Capable of visiting project sites during construction for reviews of quality, progress, and compliance with specifications and standards.
- Capable of meeting with municipal and other governing agency officials to coordinate variances.
- Knowledge to work with Specification Writer in product research, consulting with manufacturers, evaluating and selecting project related materials.
- Ability to deliver quality and timely projects on budget.
- Capacity to look for ways to improve engineering design and design processes.
- Able to guide the development of BIM/ Revit tools to improve productivity.
- Aptness to improve analytic processes and documentation, common solutions, and critical solutions.
- Aptitude for technical resolution and coordination.
- Aptitude to ensure overall design intent of the project is incorporated into documentation.
- On architecture projects, ability to work with Architectural Project Manager on strategy for producing the documents.
o Defines how data will be organized and which elements will be incorporated.
o Ensure that construction detail documentation conforms to quality control and best practice standards. - Capable of communicating with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements.
- Aptitude to mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff, participates in performance evaluations and “Lessons Learned” sessions.
- Aptitude to actively participate in business development with team leaders to target specified project, client, or market opportunities.
- Capacity to provide support to Business Development, including write-up of key aspects of projects and presentations at industry events and prepare fee estimates and assumptions for potential projects.
- Work with Marketing to write stories to publicize Johnston’s projects.
